Dear Colleagues,
The ABFM Conference is just around the corner. It will run from October
19-21 in Atlanta, GA. If you are interested in participating in the
conference and are not yet on the program, there are opportunities to join
as a panel chair or discussant and in a few cases as a panelist. Please
see the preliminary conference program at:
http://www.abfm.org/annual_conference.htm and contact Conference Chair
Robert Eger at reger at gsu.edu to let him know of your availability and what
panels you might be interested in joining.
Please also note that the deadline for the discounted room rate ($119) at
the conference hotel (Renaissance Hotel Atlanta Downtown) is September 27,
so don't delay in making your reservations. For hotel contact information
and to register online for the conference, see:
http://www.abfm.org/register_online.htm
The conference will again present high quality panels with state of the
art research. The Thursday plenary session "State and Local Perspectives
on the Looming Federal Fiscal Crisis" will feature Robert Bixby (Concord
Coalition), Scott Pattison (National Association of State Budget Officers)
and Diane Hutchins (Fulton County, GA). The Friday panel on "The Role of
GASB and GASAC in Governmental Financial Management" will feature the
leadership of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board: Robert Attmore
(GASB), Keith Johnson (Idaho State Controller) and David Bean (GASB).
I look forward to seeing you there.
