Good afternoon, we are asking public practitioners to fill out this survey to assist us in developing undergraduate curriculum components. Can you please fill out this survey if you are a public practitioner and/or forward this message to your colleagues and MPA students who are public practitioners? Thanks, Aimee

The University of Oklahoma – Department of Political Science is involved in an important national project called: Information Technology Across Careers or IT Across Careers. We are now in the validation stage of the project and need people in a variety of government and government related positions to help complete this phase.
This should take you roughly 20 minutes to answer the questions for the study sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

There are four sections, called career pathway groups, that make up the study. You should only select the section that is most relevant to your current position and respond the questions in that section.
To begin the study, click on the link from one of the following four sections. For each section, we’ve included a list of the typical types of work or positions found in that group. Select the one that is most closely related to your job.

I. Government & Governance: http://surveys2.edc.org/ITAC/govpa-govern.htm
This section is for those in elected and appointed positions, those in legislative and judiciary positions and their staffs (career and appointed) as well as lobbyists and staff of government unions/employee associations, and those in related positions.

II. National Security & Foreign Service: http://surveys2.edc.org/itac/govpa_nsfs.htm
This section is for those employed by defense and international relations organizations. This includes: administrative support, ambassadors, consultants/contractors, defense civilian personnel, development specialists, foreign service officers, foreign service specialists, intelligence analysts, linguists/interpreters, military officers, military enlisted personnel, and other support specialists related to these career fields.

III. Planning/Public Management & Administration: http://surveys2.edc.org/itac/govpa_ppma.htm
This section is for those working in what might be considered more generalist public administration positions. This includes: administrative support, consultants/contractors, economic development planners, executive/associate directors of non-profits, grants administrators, management and program analysts, public affairs officers, public information officers, support specialists, and staff of non-profit organizations, and those in related positions.

IV. Regulatory and Revenue/Taxation Government Organizations: http://surveys2.edc.org/itac/govpa_rtr.htm
This section is for those working in regulatory, inspection and revenue collection agencies. This includes: administrative support, assessors, aviation safety officers, bank examiners, border inspectors, business regulation investigators, cargo inspectors, code inspector/officers, consultants/contractors, enforcement specialists, equal opportunity officers, election supervisors, immigration officers, internal revenue investigators, inspector general (internal affairs investigators), examiners, regulatory specialists/inspectors, revenue agents/officers, support specialists, tax attorneys, tax auditors, tax examiners, tax assistants/clerks, and tax policy analysts, and those in related positions.

The information from this study is key to developing educational materials and resources reflective of today’s government work environment. These materials will be offered at no cost to colleges and high schools to help better prepare students for our 21st century workforce. All responses will be confidential.

I hope you can complete this in the next few days. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
