Call for Proposals

50th Annual WSSA Conference
Celebrates our Past, Present, and Future
April 23-26, 2008
Denver, Colorado

Proposals Due: December 1, 2007

Public Finance and Budgeting (PFB) is a section of the Western Social
Science Association (WSSA) created to provide a friendly and scholarly
environment for sharing research in the areas of public finance, public
budgeting and public financial management as they are broadly defined.
The WSSA offers sections in public administration, economics, political
science, and many other social science disciplines.

Paper and panel proposals are welcome on all topics in public finance,
financial management, and budgeting. In 2007, we had papers on state and
local budgeting, economic development, international financial
management, debt management, tax theory and practice, auditing and
accountability, and much more.

All papers that are accepted and presented at this section will be
invited to submit manuscripts as part of a symposium for Municipal
Finance Journal, as long as they meet the journal’s general policies
concerning the subject matter.

Because it is a “conference within a conference” PFB participants in
WSSA benefit from the scale economies of a much larger organization
(Member pre-registration fees are just $75, nonmembers $105; student
rates also available). All participants are required to register for the
conference by March 1, 2008.

To Submit a Proposal, Include the Following:
Paper or Panel Title
Name, Affiliation, Address, Telephone Number, and E-mail Address for All
Author(s)
Abstract(s), Not to Exceed 200 Words

Paper/panel proposals (include 3-4 papers & moderator/discussant for a
panel proposal) must be received by December 1, 2007.

Please email Proposals to Zhirong (Jerry) Zhao (zrzhao at umn.edu). For
best response, include “WSSA PFB” in your email subject line.

Or mail Proposals To:
